Producer-engineer/songwriter Brent Bodrug draws on the diversity of his musical influences to create innovative, commercially-viable recordings. Great songwriting is the basis for his production style which showcases unique soundscapes and an uncommon attention to detail.
Brent studied under jazz great Oscar Peterson as his protege, and was subsequently honoured by receiving the Toronto Arts Protege Award in 1993. Brent completed a B.F.A. degree in music from York University in 1995. Following graduation, he had a successful run as a touring performer, playing piano and keyboards in various venues across Canada.
Presently, Brent heads his own production company, The B-Group Music, and works full-time as a producer-engineer and songwriter developing artists from Canada and the US. Brent has produced and/or written with artists such as Alanis Morissette (Maverick), Jenna Andrews (Island Def Jam), Tom Wilson (Sony Publishing, Junkhouse, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Juno Award Winner), Ken Tizzard (Thornley, The Watchmen), Eva Avila (SonyBMG, Canadian Idol Winner), Andy Stochansky (RCA, Ani Difranco), Kim Bingham (EMI Publishing, Nelly Furtado, David Usher), Simon Wilcox (Universal, EMI Publishing), Jacksoul (SonyBMG, Juno Award Winner), Ryan Malcolm (Canadian Idol Winner, Low Level Flight), Carlos Morgan (Juno Award Winner), and Son (Warner), as well as numerous independent artists.

Brent has been invited to participate in SonyBMG’s Canadian Idol writing camp for 2 years and EMI Publishing's Idol camp this past year. He was also invited to participate in the Creative Collective (3 years) and has done writing camps for Peer Music, and most recently a writers’ retreat put on by the Songwriter’s association of Canada (SAC).
Additionally, Brent's work has been featured in international publications such as Billboard Magazine and in television shows such as Dawson's Creek.
